Electric vehicles require reliable insulation to protect the many components of an EV platform architecture from partial discharges and isolated leakage currents. Live electrically conductive components must be insulated to ensure the functionality or to avoid a hazardous situation.
Electrically insulating coatings have become established for this insulating effect, as often complex component geometries can best be reproduced with dimensionally stable coatings. In addition to adjustable coating thicknesses, coatings exhibit excellent adhesion properties.
The required dielectric strength, the component geometry and the surface finish are the main factors in selecting a suitable coating system. The focus here is on edges susceptible to breakdown, burrs, punch-outs, etc., imperfections within the component surface and often challenging masking requirements.
Over the past few years, Hillebrand Coating has gained considerable expertise in the field of dielectric coatings through project work, advanced training and self-developed benchmark tests. It has further developed its coating processes for these demanding requirements. Please contact us and benefit from our experience in high volume production.
In our current projects in the field of electrically insulating coatings, we insulate heat exchangers, cooling tubes, cooling snakes, cooling plates, battery housings, other enclosures, as well as tension plates and tension straps for the platform architectures of international electric vehicles.
